The 1st National Health Insurance Steering Committee Meeting
On Thursday, 30th January 2020, the Hon. Minister of Health, Wellness & the Environment and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rhonda Sealey-Thomas collaborated with us, to host the first National Health Insurance (NHI) Steering Committee Meeting.
As the vision for providing quality and sustainable health services in Antigua and Barbuda unfolds, this meeting marks a critical process as it establishes a broad-based National Health Insurance Steering Committee that will ensure all stakeholders are consulted and for us to gain the benefit from local expertise throughout the transition.
The role of this Steering Committee will be:
- To review and provide feedback to the MOH-MBS on the proposals for implementing government policy directive on UHC-NHI;
- To facilitate the research and design activities for establishing the UHC-NHI (eg. Provision of data; availability for interviews; support in public outreach activities);
- To create sub-committees for addressing and reporting on specific aspects of the UHC-NHI
- development such as:
- Benefit Package;
- Information Technology applications;
- Communications and Social Marketing;
- Revenue Generation;
- Legal and Regulatory provisions and;
To prepare and submit a report to the Honorable Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment on their deliberations and recommendations.
